Welcome Home! Gift Baskets


For nearly 35 years the Squirrel Hill Urban Coalition has sought to preserve and improve the quality of life in the 14th Ward of Pittsburgh.  We have long recognized the interdependence of the residential and business communities.  For that reason, we have directed efforts through the years to help promote and support the area’s business communities. 

You already know that the business environment has changed significantly over the past decade – there is new competition from the Waterfront in Homestead, a resurgent East Liberty, “big box” retailers and web marketing.  These have changed the where and how people shop as well as how they look for information.     

The Coalition is proud to announce a new initiative that we believe will significantly enhance your business and help your community at the same time. 

Back in the late 80’s and early 90’s, the Coalition delivered Gift Baskets to new residents of the 14th Ward.  Through an arrangement with Welcome Home!, a new company currently delivering an average of 300 baskets per month Gift Baskets throughout the North Hills (from Cranberry to Fox Chapel), the Coalition intends to re-start this program. 

We estimate that there are, on average, 60-70 new homeowners.  Starting in November, Welcome Home! will personally deliver baskets to newly settled residents of the 14th Ward who moved in the previous month.  The Coalition plans to include information about itself and the community, and we would like to include you in the Gift Basket as well.  For a low monthly price, you can offer a new resident of Squirrel Hill – someone who has not yet discovered the many businesses offering services to the community – information about your services. The attached flyer provides details about the program. The Coalition receives a portion of the proceeds each and every month.

It's no secret, new homeowners and residents always have a great need for goods and services. Welcome Home! offers you, the 14th Ward business owner, a cost effective approach to connect with these valuable customers. Consumers love the personal touch, and you'll love the great results as your advertisement won't be overlooked! You'll reach these valuable consumers first, long before they develop their long term spending habits! 

What is included:

  • Delivery of Gift Baskets monthly to New Residents of the 14th Ward. Rates include printing, insertion and distribution of promotional materials.
  • Ad Design. We will design and print a full color 8 ½” x 11” or 4” x 4 ¼” ad (see below) or use customer supplied printed advertisement. All advertisements are printed on customer’s choice of standard paper stock and include set up of logo and artwork as per customer’s specifications.
  •  Distribution Lists. We will provide a printed distribution list to the advertiser each month.
  • Promotional Item. We encourage advertisers to include a promotional item in the Gift Basket.  We offer the advertiser a catalog of low cost items (priice includes all set-up and shipping fees).
  • 10% DISCOUNT IF YOU SIGN UP BEFORE OCTOBER 15th!
