About Squirrel Hill:

"In a time when neighborhoods across the nation struggle for survival, Squirrel Hill thrives, develops and redevelops itself.

Location is certainly one factor. The neighborhood attracts students, professors and researchers who commute to nearby institutions of higher education and continuously expanding medical-research complexes. Musicians, artists and a mix of other professionals and blue-collar workers have also been enchanted by the beauty of the area, with its rolling hills, river overlooks, stately streets, restaurants, coffee houses, shops and houses of worship.

"Architectural diversity is another factor. Many of the houses built in Squirrel Hill (since 1865) were designed by noted architects. Housing styles range form Victorian and Edwardian to Art Deco and Contemporary...

"Squirrel Hill is noted for having excellent public schools and a variety of private schools. Surrounding parks and many trees ... remove the area from its urban confines.

"All of these factors make Squirrel Hill an exceptional environment in which to live."
