Coalition Annual Meeting:
Election of New Officers & Community Volunteer Recognition

The Coalition observed another year of service on May 30. A new slate of officers was elected. Steve Hawkins was elected President, Sidney Stark and Rich Feder, Vice Presidents, Wayne Gerhold, Treasurer and Johnson Martin, Secretary. Harvey Kronzek will continue to serve on the executive committee as Immediate Past President.

The Coalition also took the opportunity to recognize several outstanding community volunteers. Their service to the community can best be described as an adaptation of the Nike slogan, "Just do it!" These volunteers saw something that needed to be done and organized to get it done.

Dr. Charles Coffey was recognized for his efforts to bring back Bach, Beethoven and Brunch last year as well as his continued efforts to help organize the concert series for this season. In fact, the series expanded to nine weeks during this summer season. The concerts are every Sunday ending August 13 iin Mellon Park. Click here for the schedule and location.

Bicky Goldszer, Barbara Grover, Ann Rose and Ceci Sommer are four women who organized the Squirrel Hill Litter Patrol. They, along with about 35 volunteers, have made a tremendous improvement in the cleanliness of the Squirrel Hill business district as well as some of the residential areas. As each would tell you, "We need everyone who cares about our wonderful neighborhood to pitch in."
